Water fasting using the Water Cures Protocol is a viable way to conserve food, feel and think better and improve chances of survival. Unlike typical fasting, there is little or no hunger the first three days and it works better because of adding the trace minerals and the electrolytes providing for internal hygiene.

Bonus: It can help a number of health challenges according to research, including cancer. Yes, in some cases, it can even improve your health

Water Fasting for What?

Have you ever wondered? If there was a shortage of food or the food we have needs to be conserved, how would we make sure our children have the food they need? The simple answer, as adults, we can go without food either one or two days a week or several days at a time. We can fast and not experience any ill effects. This is also a way to heal our bodies and at the same time, reboot our gut to be able to train it to get by on less food till things get better.

How To: Water Fasting With Water Cures Protocol?

Water Fasting Action Guide

Test your self control and learn a new skill. Stop eating after your last meal of the day. Wait till 2 1/2 hours after your meal and drink 10% your body weight in ounces of water. For each 16 ounces you drink, in your mouth, dissolve 1/8th tsp of salt.

The next day, drink within 20 minutes of awaking (10% your body weight in ounces or water) and dissolve the salt (1/8th tsp for every 16 ounces) on your tongue. All day long, all you will do is drink water and take the pinch of salt on your tongue. It needs to be unprocessed salt with 80 minerals.

Dissolve the salt IN YOUR MOUTH so it can get into your blood faster!

Drink every 4 hours or when thirsty the day of your fast. Drink the amount of water based on your weight (10% your body weight) and take the appropriate amount of unprocessed salt on your tongue each time you drink. If you get hungry, drink the water and take the salt.

Once you have a single day fast under your belt, a week or two later, try it for 2 days. Then a while later, try it for a 4 day period. Finally try a 10 day fast. Fasting for longer than 10 days should be done under the supervision of a health care worker knowledgeable in fasting.

Refeeding a 4 Day Fast

Refeeding a 4 day Fast: On returning to eating, refeeding can take up half the time of the fast before returning to normal eating. The first meals should be strictly liquid. 4 ounces of orange juice diluted 50% with water and stir in a pinch of salt to balance the potassium. Drink the OJ every 2 hours for the first 4. The water and salt can be cut back.

On day two of refeeding, only eat foods that are soft and do not have a lot of fiber that will become hard. It is best to eat only one fruit at a time and to eat high water fruits. If you decide to go have sushi after a ten day fast, you may end up in the hospital. The treatment may be to fast again until solidified food in your stomach passes and refeeding can be done properly.

Water and food do not mix. Do not drink within 30 min before eating and do not drink for one hour after eating. Although some water is added to some foods, your body reads it as food and not water. When hydrating, it needs to be done separate from eating.

Refeeding a 10 Days of Water Fasting

In the refeeding period, the first third of the time will be fruit juices. The second third will be high water fruits and introduce vegetable juices. The third and final part of the refeeding can include raw vegetables and soaked nuts and seeds.

If you decide to go and eat a full meal without acclimating your stomach and gut, you could end up in the hospital. Your gut has to slowly get prepared for the eventual eating.

There are a number of sites on the web that have a considerable amount of information on refeeding for longer periods of fasting. It need not be complicated. It does need to be followed if you fast for longer periods.

In the absence of the necessary foods, we my need to be creative in how to refeed and what to eat.



Bottom Line: Do it now so you will know how to do it then.

For some reason, many get this step wrong and they put the salt in the water. Salt water can make you sick and it takes longer for the salt to get into the blood stream.

I often wondered what would it be like if there was no food available. Somehow, some way, most parents would see to it that their children had food for the day. What about the parents thought. Then on researching natural hygiene, the answer was very clear.

The average overweight adult can go for at least 20 days and up to 50 days without food and not experience any ill health effects. This is not to say you won't loose both the unwanted weight as well as in some cases, muscle mass, depending on how you manage it.

As a general rule, until you are hungry, your body is not feeding on its self. There is an added benefit, once you start to re-feed or come off the fast, you will need and can sustain your life on far less food than you are used to at the present. This means you can make your supplies last far longer.

We are currently beta testing the Water Cures Water Fast Weight Loss Protocol. The results so far are quite promising. While it is like what you would consider fasting to be, taking in nothing but water, we have added one key exception. We have added the Water Cures protocol.

While we hold that the Water Cures water fasting is not a treatment nor a cure, research indicates that in many cases it may be just that. There is limited science but current research indicates that it improves cancer chemo therapy outcomes. Some research indicates that fasting alone can eliminate cancer in the body. Likewise, anything that does not belong in our body will be removed if a long enough fast takes place.

Additionally, studies have found that the immune system reboots its self during a fast.

Water Fasting: Nothing New

Water fasting is nothing new. It is a physiological process that both man and animals have practiced since the beginning of the world. During the fasting process, the body is able to heal itself, repairing damage it has experienced. Scientific research is proving this to be true. Additionally, some research is saying that fasting allows for the body to reboot the immune system.

While 1 to 4 day fasts can be done on your own, those choosing to go longer should do so under the supervision of a health care professional or a Natural Hygienist.

1) In our research, we use the the Water Cures Protocol, using both unprocessed salt and filtered water.

2) We have found there to be no hunger or cravings early on as with most fasts.

Water Fasting is Not For You If.....

If you are pregnant

If you have a chronic disease

If you have kidney disease

If you are on medications

If you are under a doctors care

If you are under 18

If you are elderly

Other than rapid weight loss, there is an added benefit of improved mental functioning, rebooting your immune system and a bonus, according to one study, a reduction of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's risks.

Mind Hack to Help Conserve Food (and Lose Weight)

If you are morbidly obese, you may lose up to 30 lbs. Of those, about 10 lbs will come back once eating resumes (called refeeding). While it is not an effective diet strategy for most because of the risk of yoyo dieting, faced with a lack of food or making sure your family has enough, this is a way to hack your mind and jump start your body into eating less.

Once the process is started and you know how it works, what it feels like and that you will not feel like you are starving to death, this is something that can be repeated over and over. The key to having no hunger pangs is the salt and water, at least up to a point.

When you start to feel hunger, from day 10 to day 50 depending on how much fat you have stored, then you will have to start eating or your body will start using your muscles for food.

Fasting: Ancient Practice, Modern Science

Fasting has been around since the founding of the world. Even animals fast when sick. In modern times, studies on fasting started in 1843 (Chossat) and 1844 (Schultz) 1866 (Voit). In 1901, several more studying fasting and by the 1930's, there were over a dozen published studies on fasting.

Part of our normal human physiology causes our appetite to decrease when we get sick.

When we sleep, our body is allowed a period of fasting.

When we fast, the energy of the body initiates healing and rebuilding rather than digestion. Instead of processing, our body is regenerating. Instead of fueling, our body uses excess fats as energy.

Is Water Fasting for Weight Loss Dangerous?

Also considered a form of rapid weight loss, water fasting is called by some a starvation diet. Unfortunately, their bias may have blinded them to the latest medical research on fasting.

"The findings resonate with decades-old studies..." Note, there are decades of studies on fasting.

But these two articles are about intermittent fasts and here we are talking about prolonged fasting.

Well, there is research looking at prolonged fasting too. Fasting that lasts from 4 days to two weeks. While prolonged fasting can last several weeks, we are only looking at fasts that last from four days to 20 days in our research.

What Are Water Fasting Risks?

This is only considering the risks for those who are morbidly obese. Fasting is more dangerous and more critical in lean people.

For the obese who are fasting, this is a way to...

1 Detox and reboot the immune system

2 Reboot the brain

3 Reboot our body weight set point at a lower weight.

Any time we undergo a rapid weight loss program, there can be possible risks. Here's what we can do to prevent or lower the risks.

Gallstones can occur to 12 to 25% of those who lose a lot of weight over several months time. The Water Cures, drinking the amount of water we need daily along with taking in unprocessed salt by its nature lowers this risk.

In 1965 there was a woman who died while fasting. The death was attributed to lactic acidosis. This is a condition that is the result of unintentional dehydration. Our theory of regular hydration and salt intake in the fast should eliminate the risk of lactic acidosis.

In 1968 there were two deaths during therapeutic fasting, occurring at week 3 and week 8. They died due to heart failure. This likewise could be due to dehydration. See the article Heart Failure From Dehydration Case Study

There is no consensus as to what dehydration is. Unfortunately, most fasts do not have a structured hydration component. The Water Cures protocol provides such as schedule to insure water and electrolyte intake on a regular basis.

Another death happened to a grossly obese young woman. She did not die after the 30 day fast, rather the 7th day of refeeding. Note: refeeding is perhaps as critical if not more than the fasting period. The longer the fast, the more critical the refeeding. Her death was attributed to cardiac problems.

Additional problems include breakdown in electrolyte homeostasis, cardiac arrhythmia's, low blood pressure when getting up (orthostatic hypotension), normocytic, normochromic anemia and gouty arthritis. Again, these are things that are in most cases prevented when using the Water Cures Protocol.

Prolonged fasting was considered safe until 1970. While fasting is demonized by medical sites, there are a number of doctors who are helping thousands to improve their health with fasting. In all, there are very few people who have died when fasting and coming off the fast when refeeding properly.

Constipation: not a problem with proper hydration.

Dizziness: no evidence of a problem with water fasting because of the electrolytes and hydration component.

Fatigue: This we do not know and it needs to be further researched. It will depend on your body make-up. It will be less of a problem when properly hydrated.

Hair Loss: Also an unknown, but not a huge complaint according to various sources.

Headaches: Unlikely due to water and salt component of the water fast.

Irritability or Depression: Unlikely do to the water and salt intake.

Menstrual irregularities: Unknown at this time and will require more research.

Muscle Loss: This is a risk. We are testing and believe that light work outs are possible but we do not know.

Note: There is a risk when it comes to refeeding. On returning to eating it is critical that a program be strictly adhered to. Failure to adhere to the particulars required on reintroducing food (called refeeding) may cause additional health problems.

Is it Fasting or Starvation?

The research is suggesting that there are health benefits of either longer fasting periods called intermittent fasting (eat at 3 PM and don't eat again till 7 AM the next day) or regular prolonged fasting (1 to 2 days every week) With either of these forms of fasting, refeeding is not as critical when compared to prolonged fasts lasting up to 10 days or more.

Some will call water fasting starvation. The difference between fasting and starvation, you have a choice. Many cultures around the world and throughout history include fasting as part of their culture. It does not become starvation till you start to feel hunger. That is your bodies signal to start the refeeding process before returning to normal eating.

The biggest challenge with water fasting is not eating, it is the mental process or awareness of not eating when you normally would. It is weird because eating is something we have done all our lives.

Water Fasting allows for the rebooting of the immune system as well as rebooting our digestive system. When people have surgery on their gut, it is common to have them fast while the gut heals.

In survival, the time of not eating provides for rebooting the brain as to eating patterns and eating habits. This is a time for creating new habits.

Additionally, the body not using energy to digest food allows for the body to start to heal itself. The fat stores are used for fuel. This is why there is a rapid weight loss.

Once fats start becoming fuel, excess nutrients, waste and toxins, especially those stored in the fat will also start to be removed. Sometime after day 2-4 of the fast, the body will start to deconstruct things that do not belong. This includes cancers, fibroids and cysts. Some using the Water Cures Fast have found that cysts have shrunk almost half their size inside of 10 days if fasting. I know this is a benefit I enjoyed.

When we stop eating for prolonged periods, our bodies, in the absence of both nutrition and the chemical assault from our diet, can start to heal. Without the chemicals, there is now room for our brain to likewise experience healing. There is even a self discipline component to consider. We learn the power of self control we did not know we even had.

• dissolves cysts and fibroids
• starts auto-digesting cancer cells in human cells
• our body gets rid of diseased and damaged tissues
• disposes of waste and toxins accumulated in the body
• stem cells are turned on, starting a self renewal process
• reduces the lousy cholesterol (LDL) from the fat cells
• starts the repair and regeneration of different organs
• boosts the growth of new neuron cells in the brain
• reduces risks of heart disease
• normalizes blood pressure
• reduces the risk of diabetes
• protects against brain disease reduces the risk of Parkinson's
• reduces the risk of Alzheimer's
• slows the growth of cancer tumors in most cases (there are rare exceptions)

Our Grandparents Knew About Mixing Hydration and Eating!

It is amazing how so many things that are new to us were common knowledge in the past. One basic practice of the Water Cures protocol is to drink at least 30-45 minutes before and 2 1/2 hours after a meal. This is not a new thought however. Notice what a magazine from 1925 had to say...

Heal Your Headache It Worked For Me

Hi, my name is Sharon. The webmaster of this site is my nurse, my personal water coach and my husband.

As this site was first being built, I had a headache and as usual took an Ibuprofen. Impatient for it to start working, I decided to try the Water Cures. I took a pinch of salt and a glass of water. Then I took a second pinch of salt and another glass of water. My headache was gone in less than 5 minutes.
