He went on to learn that even pain can be eliminated for many people by properly hydrating the body.

Rheumatoid arthritis is considered an inflammatory disease of the joints. Many have had success in reducing pain using the water cures protocol. The water and salt help both to eliminate the inflammation and end the pain. The unprocessed salt (with all the minerals within) and water help hydrate the synovial tissue. Hydration is essential to maintain lubrication and overall joint health.

Rheumatoid arthritis most often affect the hips, elbows, shoulders, fingers, and wrists. As the cartilage is destroyed, the scar tissue that replaces the area that is destroyed. This results in deformity often noted in later stages of the disease.

The pain experienced by both is related to the inflammation.


Osteoarthritis, typically will affect the same joint on both sides of the body. The water cures protocol may help with the pain and stopping the progression of the disease.

Osteoarthritis, called wear and tear arthritis, may be prevented or even improved with proper hydration and use of electrolytes. The water cures may reduce or even eliminate the pain caused by osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis usually affects the hip, knee and thumb joints. The damage of the joints through years of use or injury, often ends in bone rubbing against bone.

Women: At greater risk than men

Age: The older you get, the greater your risk

Knee Injuries: If you had one, you are 57% more likely to get arthritis

Obese: You have a 60% chance of getting knee arthritis

Other Diseases: Almost half of those with arthritis have one other disease or condition

Other Confounding Factors Adults with heart disease are over 50% more likely to get arthritis. Diabetics are over 50% more likely to have arthritis. Those with high blood pressure are over 40% more likely to have arthritis. Those who are obese are over 35% more likely to have arthritis. An interesting fact, the water cures can help or improve each of these conditions.

Arthritis and Dehydration: Cause and Effect

Science often fails to look at the causes of diseases. So many are blamed on genes or given the "unknown ideology" label. According to Dr. Batmanghelidj, many of these unknown cause diseases are the result of a lack of proper hydration. This is even more obvious in the case of arthritis since there is no direct circulation in the cartilage. How else can it get there other than consuming the proper amount of fluid and electrolytes.

Our Grandparents Knew About Mixing Hydration and Eating!

It is amazing how so many things that are new to us were common knowledge in the past. One basic practice of the Water Cures protocol is to drink at least 30-45 minutes before and 2 1/2 hours after a meal. This is not a new thought however. Notice what a magazine from 1925 had to say...

"Drink plenty of water two hours after each meal; drink none just before eating; and a small quantity if any at meal time. Do not take a bath until two hours after eating a meal, nor closer than one hour before eating. Drink a full glass of water both before and after the bath." (Golden Age, Sept. 9, 1925, pp. 784-785)

Heal Your Headache It Worked For Me

Hi, my name is Sharon. The webmaster of this site is my nurse, my personal water coach and my husband.

As this site was first being built, I had a headache and as usual took an Ibuprofen. Impatient for it to start working, I decided to try the Water Cures. I took a pinch of salt and a glass of water.
