What is Ionized Alkaline Water and Why Is It Dangerous

When considering the danger of alkaline water, it is only the ionized that poses the greatest threat. Think of ionized alkaline water as in effect, the Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) version of filtered water.

At WaterCures.org, we are constantly approached by the MLM / Network marketers who produce the machines that make water alkaline through an electronic process. They are very expensive and the companies that sell them often fail to put ethics over profits.

For this and the reasons included here, we cannot in good conscious recommend those nor the drinking the water from them. Note that we are not anti-MLM. We believe MLM and Network Marketing is a viable and effective marketing method, even though only a small percentage of people actually do well at it and as many as 95% do not make any profits with it.

If Alkaline is Good, Why is Ionized Bad

The danger in alkaline water is if it has been artificially transformed into alkaline water and is not naturally made alkaline. Think of the water as being tricked into thinking it is alkaline (metaphorically) rather than actually being alkaline.

To some degree, the minerals in water are part of what makes it alkaline.

When water is artificially transformed into alkaline, in time, the water will revert to its original state.

The unnaturally produced water can cause health problems if consumed on a daily basis.

So even if the pH in the ionized water is the same as the natural alkaline waters, the health benefits and consequences of the ionized vs the natural can be as different as night and day.

Also, there is a form of cellular memory that the water has. Once artificially transferred into alkaline water, it will slowly convert back into its natural state, depending on the mineral content of the water. Our body will eventually read it as what it was rather than what it is. This is a second danger or alkaline water.

Artificial produced alkaline water may produce incredible benefits for the first month, In the long run, they will have a host of side effects that can cause more serious complications.

What are the implications for pregnant women. What about those breast feeding? What about children? There are no long term studies to consider the negative side effects. It does not matter that it is a MLM product. It is doing something unnatural and there is where the risk lies. We feel the danger of alkaline water that is produced by electrolysis is not worth the risks.

If you use Ionized water, you should test your urine daily in the AM to make sure you have not become too alkaline. This can pose a danger to your health.

Note: If you have bronchitis and use the water from one of these for short term use, it most likely will be quite effective. It is not recommended to use the full alkalinity and do not use them for more than several days.

The artificially modified water lacks the minerals necessary for helping our bodies maintain their own pH balance. These minerals include calcium and magnesium.

Daily use of these could result in heart troubles, hypertension, nervousness and anxiety, urinary tract and bladder infections and stabbing side pains.

Natural Alkaline Water

We live lives and eat diet that tend to make our bodies acidic. Even the common wisdom we are preached to from the commercials about drinking low fat milk is flat out wrong.

The low fat content of the milk increases the acidity of the body. The body releases more calcium form our bones and we have worse bone health, not better.

When we do not provide the essential minerals, electrolytes and fluid in the form of water, our bodies are in a state of constantly trying to combat the acidity. Drinking water that is slightly alkaline will help our body to better maintain the balance.

Why not just take supplements? Aside from the expense and trouble, we need trace amounts of these minerals throughout the day. Likewise, we need water on a regular basis throughout the day.

Unlike supplements, when you drink water that is naturally alkaline, you cannot overdose. If you overdose on calcium supplements you could end up with heart problems. With the water, our body simply does not use more than it needs.

The best, the safest and the most healthy water is naturally filtered water that is alkaline. The Ionized alkaline water is dangerous.

Based on the research and evidence, considering the danger of alkaline water that has been ionized, it might be best to avoid it.

Our Grandparents Knew About Mixing Hydration and Eating!

It is amazing how so many things that are new to us were common knowledge in the past. One basic practice of the Water Cures protocol is to drink at least 30-45 minutes before and 2 1/2 hours after a meal. This is not a new thought however. Notice what a magazine from 1925 had to say...

"Drink plenty of water two hours after each meal; drink none just before eating; and a small quantity if any at meal time. Do not take a bath until two hours after eating a meal, nor closer than one hour before eating. Drink a full glass of water both before and after the bath." (Golden Age, Sept. 9, 1925, pp. 784-785)

Heal Your Headache It Worked For Me

Hi, my name is Sharon. The webmaster of this site is my nurse, my personal water coach and my husband.
