Here you will find the Prilosec side effect information. We will also look at the dangers and risks involved in using Prilosec that have been reported in medical journals.
What if there was a better way than Prilosec or any of the PPI's. What if it was safer. What if it was faster. What if it was healthier. This will be covered at the end of this section.
Please note, you can get OTC Prilosec or over the counter dosing. We highly recommend that you only do this under the supervision of your doctor. Many doctors are aware of of the possible Prilosec side effects.
More importantly, PPI use and side effects are causing many doctors to start to question their use. Holistic nurses have long been concerned about their use and over use.
One study found a higher incidence of the pneumonia with those on the PPI. The difference, not using it you would have a 0.6 per 100 chance of getting pneumonia. On the PPI, your chances go up to 2.45 per 100.
Getting the really bad bacterial infection known as C. difficile or C Dif is now associated with PPI's. The study suggested that decreased gastric acid caused a place for the bacteria to have a party.
The rebound effect happens when your symptoms come back worse than ever.
Dependence: You can become dependent on PPI'a.
When you mess around with your stomach and its natural way of working, you also can effect other things, like calcium absorption. This could lead to osteoporosis and fractures.
B 12 is dependent on stomach acid to be able to work. Some doctors monitor B 12 for patients on PPI's (which is why we suggest you only do this with a doctors supervision.
Although rare, it has happened in men and women. The water cures protocol helps with Lupus. In the case of drug induced lupus, stopping taking the drug will usually end the symptoms.
Note: Prilosec side affect research is not conclusive....yet. Use simple logic. Why try to get the body to not do what it is supposed to do.
When the ring of muscles at the bottom of the esophagus do not function properly, we may get acid reflux. This is a backing up or back flow of acid. In time those muscles become weaker and this happens more often.
Doctors say that we do not know what causes this or the cause is not clear.
We Disagree: Holistic nurses have long known that when the body has all the things it needs, it works just fine. The Water Cures Protocol is a simple, easy and effective way to correct and eliminate acid reflux.
Getting less than Bodies Needs could be the cause.
Think of it logically. Our muscles, including the ones in our stomach and throat all are dependent on hydration to work properly. In a dehydrated state, they are weak.
Dr. Batmangehlidgh in his research found that simply adding water and salt dissolved in the mouth, the symptoms of acid reflux disappeared within several minutes.
At WaterCures.org, we have found that those following the water cures protocol will eliminate this problem for most. Actually, so far, it has totally eliminated it for all of those who have tried it that we followed up with.
Some people want science to back up every thing they do. Consider this, how did PPI's make it into main stream medicine? Science said they were great and safe. Then years and billions of dollars in profits later, the Prilosec possible side effects are causing doctors to question their use. Common sense logic caused the doctors to consider the possibilities. Retinking the science finally tipped the scales.
Now that the CDC has said salt is not bad, there is further reason for research to consider if water cures is a viable way to end GERD. The only problem, there will not be a lot of profits to be made as salt is so cheap. This begs the question, who will fund the study, if there is no profits to be made.

It is amazing how so many things that are new to us were common knowledge in the past. One basic practice of the Water Cures protocol is to drink at least 30-45 minutes before and 2 1/2 hours after a meal. This is not a new thought however. Notice what a magazine from 1925 had to say...
"Drink plenty of water two hours after each meal; drink none just before eating; and a small quantity if any at meal time. Do not take a bath until two hours after eating a meal, nor closer than one hour before eating. Drink a full glass of water both before and after the bath." (Golden Age, Sept. 9, 1925, pp. 784-785)

Listen to your body. Do not use this if you are under a doctors care. Do not stop taking medications without consulting your doctor. If you are on medications, consult your doctor if you start the Water Cures Protocol as it may change your needs.

Hi, my name is Sharon. The webmaster of this site is my nurse, my personal water coach and my husband.
As this site was first being built, I had a headache and as usual took an Ibuprofen. Impatient for it to start working, I decided to try the Water Cures. I took a pinch of salt and a glass of water. Then I took a second pinch of salt and another glass of water. My headache was gone in less than 5 minutes.
From my personal experience, it usually takes 30 to 45 minutes for Ibuprofen to work. Some have found it takes ibuprofen 24 minutes to start working.
Yet on the Water Cures protocol, my headache was gone in 5 minutes.
Its simple: give your body what it needs and your body will give you what you need, the ability to feel great.
Water Cures was the solution for the elimination of my headache. It is what I will use from now on.
Why not give it a try yourself.
